Duo and Bustle return to San Fran and beyond
Friday 11/28 Joe and Marco will be returning to The Independent for one of three final Duo performances in 2008. The next night, Saturday 11/29, The Duo will be joined by friends Dave Dreiwitz and Scott Metzger to become Bustle In Your Hedgerow, the ultimate instrumental Zeppelin experience. Being that one Bustle is never enough, the boys will be moving up the coast for one more left side performance at the Red Fox Tavern in Eureka on 11/30.
Please bear with us as we are in a bit of a transitional phase and will be launching a NEW web site, NEW music, and NEW dates in 2009!
September Tour Dates Locked In
Did someone say Fall Tour? Yep. Summer's almost over, so the Duo's hitting the road with a September Back-to-School tour to make you crazy kids happy.
Everything kicks off in the midwest on September 4th at The Vogue in Indianapolis. After that, it's over to the Miramar in Milwaukee on Friday, September 5th and then to the SoCo Music Experience in Madison, WI on September 6th to share the stage with The Roots, The Black Keys, and many more. Sunday September 7th, come and help spread the gospel of organ and drums at old favorite Martyr's in Chicago.
The van then turns south to to play a trio of dates in tobacco country: Emerald Lounge in Asheville, NC on Tuesday 9/9, The Pour House Music Hall in Raleigh, NC on 9/10, and VisuLite Theatre in Charlotte, NC on September 11th.
Then it's further down south to hit up the Five Spot in Atlanta on Friday, September 12th before heading to the aptly named The Real Big Deal Festival in Gainesville, FL on September 13th. The next stop is at Terrapin Hill Harvest Festival in Harrodsburg, KY, which also includes acts such as Tea Leaf Green and Keller Williams, just to name a few.
Then these Jersey boys head back home to what will surely be a raucous homecoming show at Spiegeltent at South Street Seaport in NYC on September 23rd. Make sure to come out and welcome Marco and Joe back home!
All this east-of-the-Rockies news should not make you forget some serious west coast love the Duo is throwing down in August, however. The Duo will be playing four consecutive nights at the Mojito in San Francisco August 17, 18, 19, and 20. The comfortable and intimate setting will certainly remind some of the old Tap Bar days, and we'd guess that the experience might lead to some old-school musical explorations on stage. All this will exploration will blossom into a huge, blooming festival set at the simply amazing Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in Golden Gate park on August 22nd.
DUO ADDED TO OUTSIDE LANDS, WORLD REJOICES
We are thrilled to be invited to participate in what is shaping up to be the best new festival in a busy festival season. The Benevento/Russo Duo will be joining an already out-of-this-world lineup at the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival. The band will be performing on Friday, August 22nd, on the same day as Radiohead, Beck, Black Keys, Howlin Rain, Manu Chao, Cold War Kids and so many more acts (including Wilco, Tom Petty and Broken Social Scene to name just a few). Take that and add Golden Gate Park as the festival setting and try to top it.
Tickets are still available for the fest in single-day or three-day packages. Head on over to the festival website, peruse the info and grab your tix for this one.
4 NIGHTS IN THE CITY BY THE BAY + Chicago and NYC dates!
We are going to get intimate with the city of San Francisco on the week leading up to the inaugural Outside Lands Festival. We are going to be performing at the intimate North Beach venue, Mojito, on 1337 Grant Avenue for four nights!
We are still working out details, but we can say to expect the unexpected. The room holds approximately 125 people and tickets will be a paltry $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show. We will announce ticketing options very shortly.
In addition, we have added a Chicago date to our growing itinerary in September...and intimate seems to be a running theme, as we will be performing at Martyr's on Sunday, September 7th. Tickets for this performance are $15. More info can be found at jamproductions.com
Finally, on a more grand scale, we are pleased to announce our first NYC headlining show of 2008. We will be performing at the Spiegeltent at South Street Seaport on Tuesday, September 23. We will be joined by Travis Morrison's Bjorkestra for this performance, and we look forward to celebrating our first big NYC show in quite some time at a very special venue. Check out their web site for ticketing info, which should be posted shortly. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the show in this venue that is otherworldly.
Details on these shows and all upcoming tour dates can be found on our shows page.
AND IN OTHER NEWS ... DUO GIVE FANS MONTHLY MUSIC SERIES
The guys continue to work on new material as we are planning a March launch of our new monthly music series, which will find the band releasing a couple of tracks each month through the official site, the livedownload portal, and all of the major digital music providers (from iTunes to Amazone to Rhapsody and then some). Some months will feature new original tunes that the guys have been working up, other months may feature live archival tracks from shows long ago, and yet other months may find the guys collaborating and creating with various partners in crime. Expect the unexpected in this time of experimentation in the world of music. The band's goal is to make sure that we can get you, the fans, the music as quickly as possible ... and it all starts in the middle of March.
We also wanted to let everybody know about Marco's new solo album, "Invisible Baby," which is available now through digital providers such as iTunes and Amazon.com and will be available in stores everywhere now.
11/18/2005 show available on livedownloads.com!
In conjunction with the band's return to the TLA (now the Fillmore) for the first time since November 18th, 2005, we have decided to post this show, one of the most requested shows on the fan site, for everybody to hear...
We are pleased to announce the release of The Duo's 11/18/2005 performance at the TLA in both FLAC and mp3 formats ($9.95 for mp3, $12.95 for FLAC) on livedownloads.com.
Like the Baltimore tour closer on the following night, this soundboard recording catches the band at the tail end of a very long fall tour. The band is crackling with energy that is obvious in both performance and banter. From the "Play Pause Stop" opener to the "My Pet Goat" closer and everything in between, Marco and Joe are in control of both the audience and the music on this very special night. And don't miss the "Epic" jam in the midst of a raging "Myxamytosis."

LIVEDOWNLOADS.COM AND THE DUO TEAM UP FOR FLAC AND MP3 DOWNLOAD SITE
We have been hinting at it, and it has officially gone live...the IT being the portal for Duo shows on livedownloads.com. We are very excited to announce that we have released the following performances on FLAC and mp3 formats for you to download today:
5/11/05 "Raw Horse" - previously available as an import only (unless you live in Japan), "Raw Horse" captured the Duo at the early stages of the "Best Reason to Buy the Sun" tour when they touched down at the Fox Theatre in Boulder. Highlights include an other-worldly "Three Question Marks" as well as a stunning version of "My Pet Goat". The entire release is available in FLAC format for $9.95 and mp3 format for $7.95. Download this show!
3/19/06 - Amsterdam, HOLLAND, The Melkweg - This was the opening set of the opening night of "Jam in the Dam 2." The Duo warmed the crowd up for a phenomenal three-night journey that included a variety of collaborations and experiments. This particular night found Marco calling out for good friend and long-time collaborator, Brian Haas (of the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) to join him during "Mephisto." While Haas was "indisposed" at the time, he did find his way up on stage for some beautiful interplay during the Duo's version of "Paranoid Android" to close out the night (and then came back the next night with his bandmates in JFJO as well as Charlie Hunter and Bobby Previte ... who knows, maybe you'll get that show down the line). This performance is available in FLAC format for $12.95 and mp3 format for $9.95. Download this show!
7/19/06 - Nashville, TN, Ryman Auditorium - In the midst of their summer tour with Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon, the Duo touched down in the famed halls of the Grand Ole Opry and lit the place ablaze. Augmented on this night by the infamous Lighting Designer, Chris Kuroda, Marco and Joe delivered what is still to this day, one of Marco's favorite Duo sets ever. Short but sweet, the set highlights the interplay between the two musicians in one of the best-sounding rooms in the country. The guys nod to the state of their location with a lilting version of "Memphis" that is followed by a downright scary version of "Myxamytosis" before closing things out with the ethereal beauty of "Sunny's Song." This show is available in FLAC format for $9.95 and mp3 format for $7.95. Download this show!
Expect more archival releases as well as some releases from the upcoming Fall Tour to be available on the site soon.

The mp3 tracks are encoded at 192kbps and this is a soundboard recording.
