Joe Russo will again be joining Marc Brownstein and Tommy Hamilton for the United States Debut of Younger Brother with a LIVE band on May 9th at the Boulder Theater. You will not want to miss this either. You know what to do.

WE'RE GOING BACK TO QUINCY, QUINCY, QUINCY - Duo Confirms Return to High Sierra

Revisiting our roots, so to speak. It has been a few years since the band's first trip out west in the Subaru, for High Sierra 2002, and after a couple of years away, we're heading back. Marco and Joe will be playing multiple sets of music in multiple configurations at High Sierra 2008. The guys will set up shop with two Duo sets, including a late-night reunion with the inimitable Critters Buggin' (ahem, mayhem will ensue) on Independence Day, two sets of Bustle in Your Hedgerow, including a late-night gathering of the faithful on July 3rd. Russo will add a dollup of American Babies as well and we're pretty certain you will see Marco popping up amongst friends.

And that is just the Duo side of things... this is High Sierra, and this year's line-up includes Built to Spill, Mike Gordon, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Ratdog, and old friends and High Sierra mainstays, The Slip... and many more. Tickets are on sale now at the High Sierra site.

DUO RETURN TO AUSTIN AND DENVER FOR EARTH DAY WEEKEND

It's been a while since we've visited the great state of Texas, but all of that will soon change. We will be hitting The Parish in Austin on Saturday, April 19th for a big return performance. We will hop over to Denver, Colorado on Sunday, April 20th for two very special Green Apple Festival performances. The first is a free concert at City Park with the Neville Brothers and Rose Hill Drive...and afterwards, we will be playing an intimate aftershow at the newly-renovated Falcon for the Official Green Apple Wrap Party. Tickets for the Austin show and the Wrap Party are available here and here. Don't miss these exciting performances.

Please embrace this Earth Day celebration by car pooling, taking the light rail and bus, walking or cycling to the festival. Auraria Campus (exit I25 and Auraria Parkway) is offering free parking at the campus parking lot with RTD running busses from here to City Park. The following busses 15, 15L, 20, 24, 32 and 40 will be running on the weekday schedule for this event. In addition, we will be offering a free bike valet service at City Park.

SPECIAL "ACOUSTIC" EVENING AT HISTORIC PRESERVATION HALL

It has been a couple of years since we've made it down to JazzFest in New Orleans, but we are thrilled to return with a very special "acoustic" engagement at Preservation Hall as part of their Jazzfest Midnight Preserves Series. Tickets are on sale now through the Preservation Hall site. We are honored to be performing at this historic venue alongside such artists as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Terence Blanchard, Robert Walter and the Rebirth Brass Band. Grab your tickets now, as you won't want to miss this one-of-a-kind performance in this one-of-a-kind space.

Marco will be busy throughout the fest in various incarnations. For more details on his solo appearances, check out marcobenevento.com

Help us help Scotty Hard

We are joining a stellar line-up of musicians to benefit Mr. Scotty Hard, who suffered severe injuries in a car accident a couple of weeks ago. For those of you who aren't aware of Scotty Hard, in addition to his work with the guys on Best Reason to Buy the Sun (engineered 9x9 and the Japan version of Sunny's Song and Waltz #1), Scotty has worked with a whose who in the world of experimental rock, jazz and hip hop. Not only is Scotty an unbelievable talent, but he is also a world-class good guy.

We are so pleased to be able to participate along with John Scofield, John Medeski, Billy Martin, Bill Laswell, Eric Krasno, Neal Evans, Antibalas, Sex Mob, DJ Logic, John Ellis, Michael Blake, Vijay Iyer, Tom Hamilton and Kevin Kendrick.

Tickets are available now and all proceeds will be donated to the Scotty Hard Trust.

BENEVENTO/RUSSO DUO and GRACE POTTER & THE NOCTURNALS ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR

We are thrilled to announce that we will be taking the Road to Langerado with our friends in rock to the north, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. The Duo and the Nocturnals will play ten shows in twelve nights, running down the eastern seaboard and back up through the midwest and we are thrilled to be returning to places like Louisville, Madison and Minneapolis for the first time in a few years.

The bands will be flip-flopping like your favorite politicians in the headlining slot. But the bonus to the fans is that both bands will be performing full sets each night. The bands will be bringing along another act that will be announced in the coming week and expect a night of many twists and turns.

AND IN OTHER NEWS ... DUO GIVE FANS MONTHLY MUSIC SERIES

The guys continue to work on new material as we are planning a March launch of our new monthly music series, which will find the band releasing a couple of tracks each month through the official site, the livedownload portal, and all of the major digital music providers (from iTunes to Amazone to Rhapsody and then some). Some months will feature new original tunes that the guys have been working up, other months may feature live archival tracks from shows long ago, and yet other months may find the guys collaborating and creating with various partners in crime. Expect the unexpected in this time of experimentation in the world of music. The band's goal is to make sure that we can get you, the fans, the music as quickly as possible ... and it all starts in the middle of March.

We also wanted to let everybody know about Marco's new solo album, "Invisible Baby," which is available now through digital providers such as iTunes and Amazon.com and will be available in stores everywhere on February 12th.

MARCO AND JOE'S OTHER ACTIVITIES

As you have noticed by now, when not busy with the Duo, the guys are keeping themselves pretty active in other arenas. Marco will be touring in support of his solo release, Invisible Baby, with his 5-night "I Love NY" Tour that intersects with the Duo performance at Mexicali Blues. Other shows include Vassar College (2/19), Revolution Hall (2/20), Bearsville Theatre (2/21), and the World Cafe Live (2/23).

Joe will be staying busy with the American Babies as he will be touring with Tom, Scott and Joe throughout the spring in support of the April 1st release of the debut American Babies release, which will be available at fine retailers everywhere.

11/18/2005 show available on livedownloads.com!

In conjunction with the band's return to the TLA (now the Fillmore) for the first time since November 18th, 2005, we have decided to post this show, one of the most requested shows on the fan site, for everybody to hear...

We are pleased to announce the release of The Duo's 11/18/2005 performance at the TLA in both FLAC and mp3 formats ($9.95 for mp3, $12.95 for FLAC) on livedownloads.com.

Like the Baltimore tour closer on the following night, this soundboard recording catches the band at the tail end of a very long fall tour. The band is crackling with energy that is obvious in both performance and banter. From the "Play Pause Stop" opener to the "My Pet Goat" closer and everything in between, Marco and Joe are in control of both the audience and the music on this very special night. And don't miss the "Epic" jam in the midst of a raging "Myxamytosis."

  2. Sunny's Song (4:35)
  3. Becky (11:07)
  4. Soba (6:24)

LIVEDOWNLOADS.COM AND THE DUO TEAM UP FOR FLAC AND MP3 DOWNLOAD SITE

We have been hinting at it, and it has officially gone live...the IT being the portal for Duo shows on livedownloads.com. We are very excited to announce that we have released the following performances on FLAC and mp3 formats for you to download today:

5/11/05 "Raw Horse" - previously available as an import only (unless you live in Japan), "Raw Horse" captured the Duo at the early stages of the "Best Reason to Buy the Sun" tour when they touched down at the Fox Theatre in Boulder. Highlights include an other-worldly "Three Question Marks" as well as a stunning version of "My Pet Goat". The entire release is available in FLAC format for $9.95 and mp3 format for $7.95. Download this show!

3/19/06 - Amsterdam, HOLLAND, The Melkweg - This was the opening set of the opening night of "Jam in the Dam 2." The Duo warmed the crowd up for a phenomenal three-night journey that included a variety of collaborations and experiments. This particular night found Marco calling out for good friend and long-time collaborator, Brian Haas (of the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey) to join him during "Mephisto." While Haas was "indisposed" at the time, he did find his way up on stage for some beautiful interplay during the Duo's version of "Paranoid Android" to close out the night (and then came back the next night with his bandmates in JFJO as well as Charlie Hunter and Bobby Previte ... who knows, maybe you'll get that show down the line). This performance is available in FLAC format for $12.95 and mp3 format for $9.95. Download this show!

7/19/06 - Nashville, TN, Ryman Auditorium - In the midst of their summer tour with Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon, the Duo touched down in the famed halls of the Grand Ole Opry and lit the place ablaze. Augmented on this night by the infamous Lighting Designer, Chris Kuroda, Marco and Joe delivered what is still to this day, one of Marco's favorite Duo sets ever. Short but sweet, the set highlights the interplay between the two musicians in one of the best-sounding rooms in the country. The guys nod to the state of their location with a lilting version of "Memphis" that is followed by a downright scary version of "Myxamytosis" before closing things out with the ethereal beauty of "Sunny's Song." This show is available in FLAC format for $9.95 and mp3 format for $7.95. Download this show!

Expect more archival releases as well as some releases from the upcoming Fall Tour to be available on the site soon.

DUO AND SNOCAP TEAM UP TO RELEASE LIVE SHOWS - FAN FAVORITE FROM BALTIMORE, 2005, STARTS THE SERIES OFF

We are proud to be offering shows in mp3 format through SNOCAP on our yspace page. We are working closely with the SNOCAP folks to offer full live downloads of a variety of performances, past, present and future and we've decided to start things off with an oft-requested uncirculated performance by the Benevento/Russo Duo at the 8x10 Club in Baltimore on November 19th, 2005.

Y'all have been writing in and requesting for this show for sometime, and while we prep a site that will also offer FLAC files (for the audiophiles out there) we didn't want to delay in the release of some great music. You have the choice of purchasing individual tracks from our Myspace store for $.99 or purchasing the entire show at the discounted cost of $11.98. The mp3 tracks are encoded at 192kbps and this is a soundboard recording.

Head on over to myspace.com/beneventorussoduocom now and start downloading this classic Duo performance that closed out a three-month tour in support of "Best Reason to Buy the Sun" and captured Marco and Joe lighting Baltimore up.
